Dear Friends:

Twenty years ago today, at the age of 30 and newly married, I launched Art Strategies from my new home in Indianapolis.

This week, for me, has been about reflecting…on the many monumental public projects, Fortune 500 corporate and institutional programs, and incredible private residential collections —both locally and nationally—that I have had the pleasure to curate and produce. I have worked with renowned artists such as Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Vito Acconci, Chakaia Booker, Odili Donald Odita, Julian Opie, Fred Wilson (among so many others), and galleries and auction houses all over the world.

The ability to maintain a successful for-profit art business in Indiana for twenty years is no small feat! My determination and love of art and artists, a robust $65 billion global art market, proximity to a great airport, and the interest of people like you have made it possible.

I love my work, and love to work with the best. Thank you to Brose Partington who has been working with me on all things logistics, art handling, and art preparation for the last 10 years. Thanks also to Anne Surak who joined the team two years ago to deepen my curatorial bench.

Thank you all for your partnership, friendship, trust, and support. I am so grateful. Below are a few snapshots of memories, moments, and people from over the years. Here’s to 20 more!

Artist Tom Otterness with Male Tourist and Female Tourist outside the Indiana Convention Center. In response to the popularity of our exhibition entitled Tom Otterness in Indianapolis, these sculptures along with the sculpture Free Money were purchased by a group of donors and gifted to the city.

With members of the Indiana Avenue and Ransom Place community, and faculty and students of the Herron School of Art & Design at Indiana University in Indianapolis, after installing a student’s professional practice project on the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick.

The 2013 ribbon cutting for the original eight miles of the Cultural Trail with Gail Payne. Art Strategies curated all the art on the Trail and co-produced the ribbon cutting events and the weekend long community celebration.

I AM INDY was a campaign launched in 2015 by Visit Indy to showcase the diversity, inclusion, and creativity in Indianapolis. I worked with Brian McCutcheon to design a sculpture that invited people to be the “I” in “Indy” and post on social media. The campaign was meant to last six months, and still continues today.

The Public Collection was a literacy and public art project that launched in 2015 and consisted of free book borrowing stations, designed by artists or design teams, and installed in community spaces around Indianapolis. Art Strategies was the curator and project manager.

Table of Contents was one of the libraries created by artist Stuart Hyatt with architects Josh Coggeshall and Janice Shimizu, who we lost this year. This project served neighbors at the Horizon House Day Shelter.

Cummins Inc.’s Global Distribution Headquarters designed by TenBerke with a site-specific project by Kendall Buster and painting by Valerie Jaudon. Art Strategies curated a collection of three site-specific, monumental art installations and over 80 works of art for this new landmark building.

Over the past decade, Art Strategies has curated art and cultural assets in seven of the company’s buildings and continues to advise as needed.
